Dumbo

Standing for “Down Under the Manhattan Bridge Overpass,” DUMBO, once an industrial neighborhood filled with semi-abandoned warehouses and factories, evolved into one of NYC’s hottest residential enclaves. Most of this coveted Brooklyn gem, set on the East River between the Brooklyn and Manhattan Bridges, is landmarked, with its earliest structures dating back to the 1850’s. Many industrial buildings were preserved and converted into luxury condos and lofts, mingled with high-end shops and a wide array of fine restaurants lining charming cobblestone streets. The famed River Café restaurant, and St. Ann’s Warehouse Theater (a former tobacco factory, now the heart of a thriving performance and gallery scene), situated near the waterfront are among the highlights of the area. You’ll also enjoy beautiful green space at Main Street Park and the north end of Brooklyn Bridge Park featuring historic Jane’s Carousel and picturesque views of the Manhattan skyline.
